About

Turning abundance into nourishment

Fruitfully Yours is an award-winning community organization fighting food waste and food insecurity in the San Gabriel Valley of California. What started with a walk through the neighborhood became a movement.

Our Story

It started with a walk

In 2017, Mihir was a freshman at Glendora High School. On daily walks through the neighborhood with his mother Vineet, they noticed fruit trees heavy with oranges, lemons, and figs, all of it falling to the ground, unwanted and unharvested. At the same time, families just a few miles away were going hungry.

With encouragement from the then-Mayor of Glendora, they started knocking on doors, recruiting volunteers, and picking fruit to donate to Shepherd's Pantry and other local food banks. What began as weekend picks in Glendora grew through social media, community events, and partnerships to serve La Verne, San Dimas, Covina, Azusa, and beyond.

The Problem

Food waste is one of the biggest crises of our time

Millions of Californians are food insecure while perfectly good fruit rots in backyards across the state. The environmental cost is staggering.

0%

of all food produced in the U.S. is wasted

0%

of landfill waste is food, the single largest source

0×

more potent than CO₂: that's methane from rotting food

0%+

of global greenhouse gas emissions come from food waste

What We Do

Three pillars of action

Fruit Rescue

We organize community fruit picks, harvesting surplus fruit from backyards, orchards, and farms before it falls and goes to waste.

Community Distribution

Every pound we pick is sorted, packed, and delivered to food banks, shelters, schools, and families experiencing food insecurity.

Volunteer Network

Our growing team of volunteers makes everything possible: picking and packing, outreach, and logistics across the valley.

Our Journey

Milestones

2017

Fruitfully Yours Founded

Mihir, then a freshman at Glendora High School, and his mother Vineet noticed fruit going to waste on their daily walks through the neighborhood. With support from the then-Mayor of Glendora, they began recruiting volunteers to pick surplus fruit and donate it to local food banks.

2018

Expanding Across the Valley

What started in Glendora grew through social media, community events, and partnerships with local organizations. Fruitfully Yours expanded to serve La Verne, San Dimas, Covina, and Azusa across the San Gabriel Valley.

2020

Pandemic Picks

When COVID-19 hit, we didn't stop. As demand at Shepherd's Pantry and other food banks multiplied, we introduced "socially distanced pandemic picks," following CDC guidelines while continuing to deliver fruit to families in need.

2022

10,000 Pounds Rescued

Hit our first major milestone with the help of a growing volunteer network across Glendora, La Verne, and surrounding cities.

2023

Community Partnerships Expand

Partnered with local food banks, schools, and community organizations to reach more food-insecure families than ever before.

2024

Record-Breaking Pick

Our terrific team rescued more than 1,600 pounds of oranges in a single fruit pick in Glendora, our largest to date.

2025

115,000+ Pounds and Growing

Crossed 115,000 pounds of fruit rescued, impacting thousands of individuals across the valley. The work continues.
